Joe trained at SMB Dance before successfully auditioning for full-time professional training at The Hammond, where he was offered a funded place on the dance course on the day of his audition. He joined The Hammond in Year 7 and is now continuing his training there in Year 9.
Alongside his full-time studies, Joe was selected to join The Phoenix Boys, the UK’s largest all-male dance associates programme. Since joining, he has performed at major events including CarFest (in front of over 30,000 people), CYD, and Move It, as well as featuring in multiple professionally filmed concept videos. In recognition of his talent and commitment, Joe was chosen as a Phoenix Boys Ambassador in January 2025, just months after joining the programme.
Joe also took part in a Billy Elliot workshop with Layton Williams and Elliot Hanna, which was filmed and broadcast on BBC’s The One Show. He later attended a Boys Dance Day at Pineapple Dance Studios, London, where he was selected to represent Pineapple, performing at a prestigious charity gala at the Natural History Museum in front of industry figures including Shirley Ballas and Gary Barlow.
Further developing his training, Joe successfully auditioned for TS Training Academies and was later scouted by Stagebox, receiving a Rising Talent Award - a fully funded scholarship in Musical Theatre, awarded for exceptional ability. Joe will begin this training in February 2026.
Joe’s journey is a fantastic example of where strong foundations, dedication, and passion can lead, and we are incredibly proud to have been part of his early training at SMB Dance. We are so excited to see where his journey takes him next.
